Welcome

Panama, home to the "path between the seas"; the world famous Panama Canal. A country that divides and unites oceans and continents. Panama is also home to some of the most beautiful and diverse natural regions anywhere in the world. Voyage into remote jungle rainforests steeped with the history of the evolution of flora & fauna unseen to most. Panama forms both a land bridge for many species and a bio-geographical barrier to others. The abundance of protected tropical rainforest provides a rich habitat for many components of the avifauna of North and South America.

A veritable "Birders Heaven", Panama offers some of the best bird watching in the world and is home to nearly 1,000 species of birds in a small area of just 72,000 km2; smaller than South Carolina. Adding to the incredible number of birds, Panama has an impressive number of plants (10,000+), butterflies (16,000+), mammals (200+), frogs (190+) and many other surprises to discover. This is the perfect introduction to South and Central American birding. This beautiful and very accessible country offers a great diversity of neotropical bird species; many very difficult to find elsewhere. Excellent bird and animal watching locations can be easily accessed and a difficult and arduous hike is not necessary to find the animals.
